Historic Douglas

Our neighbouring village has much more history than its size suggests. Follow the historic walking route past Old St Bride’s Church, the Black Douglas connections, old castle remains and woodland tracks around Stable Loch.

Climb Tinto Hill

One of southern Scotland’s best-known hills and a great introduction to hill walking. A clear path leads to the summit, with wide views over the Clyde Valley and far beyond on a clear day.

Market town

Biggar & Upper Clydesdale

Spend a slower day exploring the traditional market town of Biggar. Its excellent museum tells 14,000 years of local history, and the town makes an easy outing for shops, cafés and a wander around Upper Clydesdale.

Walks from Lanark

Explore the Clyde Valley on foot

If walking is your thing, there are routes around Lanark Loch, Cartland Crags, Cleghorn Glen and the Clyde Valley, as well as longer walks linking Lanark with New Lanark and the Falls of Clyde.

Strathaven & Spectacle E’e Falls

Combine the attractive market town of Strathaven with an easy countryside walk beside Avon Water and Kype Water to Spectacle E’e Falls. It’s a good choice when you fancy a gentler day away from the farm.
